Grab Your Marmalade, Paddington 3 Is Actually Happening
Grab Your Marmalade, Paddington 3 Is Actually Happening-November 2024
Nov 6, 2024 8:26 PM

It's finally happening. Paddington 3 is officially in the works. The news comes from Variety, confirming that everyone's favorite marmalade-munching bear will hit the big screen at least one more time.

In a statement to Variety, production company Studiocanal said, "We can confirm Studiocanal is working very hard on film 3 with the utmost craft and care--as with film 1 and 2." This is great news for everyone who's been waiting on pins and needles since Paddington 2 hit theaters in 2018. That film saw the lovable talking bear sent to jail after being framed for a crime and, somehow, managed to include a very strong message about the need for prison reform.

While no details about the third movie's story or cast have been revealed, it's hard to imagine Ben Whishaw, most recently seen on Fargo, not returning to voice Paddington once again. Meanwhile, Hugh Bonneville, who played Henry Brown in the first two films, recently said there was "forward momentum" on the project, which hints he and the Brown clan will also return.

What's likely to be different, though, is the director. Paul King, who wrote and directed the first two films, stated previously that he would not helm the third Paddington, but would still be involved in the project. He's now directing the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory prequel Wonka, which was announced in January.

Whatever, the case, Paddington isn't done with the world yet and now fans just have to wait for him to appear on the big screen once again to remind us of his Aunt Lucy's life motto: If you're kind and polite the world will be right.
