Bane is one of the Batman's most famous adversaries, and he was brought to the screen most recently by Tom Hardy in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises. The character will make his live-action TV debut in the upcoming fifth season of Gotham, and the first official image has been released.
The image was revealed by Entertainment Weekly. This version of the character will be played by Shane West. Physically he is less imposing than Hardy's massive Bane, but the familiar respirator that keeps him alive is there, together with some kind of robotic breastplate that gives him more of a cyborg-like appearance. Check the image out below.

Now Playing: Gotham - 'The Innocent And The Wicked' Official Trailer | Season 5 | NYCC 2018
Gotham writer and producer Tze Chun also tweeted a different image of the new-look Bane, which you can see here. Bane also has a different alter ego in Gotham. Whereas Hardy's version was born and raised in a hellish Middle Eastern prison, in Gotham he is Eduardo Dorrance, a former Army colleague of Jim Gordon. In a recent interview with Den of Geek, showrunner John Stephens described him as "very, very strong, and very angry. We made him integral to the fact of coming in as a special ops government agent."
Gotham Season 5 does not yet have a confirmed premiere date, but it is expected in early 2019. It will be the final season and we know it will be based on the "No Man's Land" story from the DC comic books.
While Gotham is finishing soon, the show's creator, Bruno Heller, has another Batman-related show on the way. Pennyworth will focus on the early adventures of Batman's butler Alfred, and last week it was confirmed that Jack Bannon (The Imitation Game) will play the character, with Ben Aldridge (Fleabag) as Thomas Wayne. The show is now in production in London, so there's a good chance we'll see it later in 2019.
