  The D.I.C.E. Awards 2023 ceremony took place yesterday at the Resorts World in Las Vegas, hosted as always by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences. As the nominations had suggested, Sony Santa Monica's God of War Ragnarök won the most prizes (7):

  Outstanding Achievement in AnimationOutstanding Achievement in Art DirectionOutstanding Achievement in CharacterOutstanding Achievement in Original Music CompositionOutstanding Achievement in Audio DesignOutstanding Achievement in StoryAdventure Game of the YearHowever, FromSoftware's Elden Ring won the coveted Game of the Year Award in addition to the following four prizes:

  Outstanding Achievement in Game DirectionOutstanding Achievement in Game DesignOutstanding Technical AchievementRole-Playing Game of the YearThe only other multi-prize winner at the D.I.C.E. Awards 2023 other than God of War Ragnarök and Elden Ring was Vertical Robot's VR game Red Matter 2, which prevailed in the Immersive Reality Technical Achievement and Immersive Reality Game of the Year categories.

  Ubisoft's Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope won Family Game of the Year, poncle's Vampire Survivors won Action Game of the Year, Player First Games' MultiVersus won Fighting Game of the Year, Polyphony Digital's Gran Turismo 7 won Racing Game of the Year, Roll7's OlliOlli World won Sports Game of the Year, Bay 12 Games' Dwarf Fortress won Strategy/Simulation Game of the Year, Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker won Online Game of the Year, Second Dinner Studios' MARVEL SNAP won Mobile Game of the Year, and TUNIC Team's eponymous game received the award for Outstanding Achievement for an Independent Game.

  Industry legend Tim Schafer (The Curse of Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, Psychonauts, Brütal Legend, Broken Age, Psychonauts 2) from Double Fine received the Hall of Fame Award at the D.I.C.E. Awards 2023; last year, the award went to NetherRealm's Ed Boon, creator of Mortal Kombat.
