God of War Ragnarok Mine Puzzles in The Applecore – How to Solve Them-November 2024
Nov 26, 2024 9:30 PM

God of War Ragnarok features many environmental puzzles, which must be completed to progress in the story. One of the first challenges that could give you a hard time can be found during the mission called "The Quest for Tyr." Kratos and Atreus will be exploring the Realm of Svartalfheim. Once they make their way into the mineshaft, they will find several mine puzzles that involve using the Leviathan Axe to freeze the waterways.

If you get stuck with the mine puzzles while exploring the Applecore in God of War Ragnarok, don’t panic. You will find the solution to each one in this guide.

How to Solve the First Mine Puzzle

You will find the first Mine Puzzle that requires you to use your Axe and Atreus skills to progress soon after entering the cave. You will notice that the path is blocked, and the water doesn’t flow down its route as it should. To unlock it, you need to:

Shoot Atreus’ green arrows at those big rocks blocking the canal. They are placed upper right of the wheel.Freeze the water that is now flowing with your Leviathan Axe. You can aim by pressing L2 and throwing it with R2. You must hit the canal just above the wheel, slightly to the left of it.The water will start flowing on the second canal and move the wheel. This will raise the can that was previously hidden under the water.Press the Circle button to reach the other side and open the door.

How to Solve the Second Mine Puzzle

After some time in the mine, you will find another environmental puzzle that requires the Axe to be solved. Here’s how to do it:

Aim just above the wheel on the left and freeze the water with your Axe.The wheel will start working and raise the chain upward. Jump to the next platform by pressing the Circle button. You will see a red lever if you look back at the canal where the water flows. Use your Blades of Chaos to pull it down.Make your way back to the previous platform and go right. Use the chain to reach the upper platform and continue following the path. You will see the canal from above, along with another red lever. Pull it with your Blades to make the elevator move.Reach the elevator. Look right and freeze the water just above the wheel, so the elevator will come down to where you currently are.Enter the elevator by pressing Circle and retrieve your Axe so it will go back up.

How to Solve the Second Mine Puzzle

You will face one last environmental mine puzzle in God of War Ragnarok. This is the trickiest one in the Applecore. Here’s how to solve it:

Once you glide across the rope you have just unlocked using Atreus’ green arrows, you will reach a new area.Look on the left, and you will see a high ground that Atreus can reach with your help by pressing Circle when requested.Throw the Axe at the canal near Atreus, so you can freeze the water near the wheel that will start moving.Press Square while looking at Atreus so that he will release some rocks in the canal. They will block the water so it will fall into the wheel even if it is not frozen.Retrieve your Axe and look again in front of you toward the chain. You will notice a canal and a wheel on your right.Aim and throw your Leviathan Axe just above the wheel, so the water will make the wheel move and lift the chain. Use it to reach the other side.Look back at the rocks that block the water for the first wheel and ask Atreus to shoot them with his green arrows. This will solve the puzzle and make you reach the door.
