The Reckoning quest in God of War Ragnarok features different puzzles to solve. One is the River Sigil puzzle, where you must cross a river to complete the mission, and another is the broken bridge puzzle near The Abandoned Village. You will eventually come across this interrupted bridge that must be crossed to proceed, but there is no easy way to complete the task.
You need to move the crane, but you will soon find that it is blocked, and you can’t simply rotate the arm to use the grapple. However, if you want help with the Vanaheim broken bridge puzzle, you will find the solution here.
SPOILER ALERT: This guide contains spoilers of the game.
This way, you will free the big torch that was trapped below the brambles, and you will also be able to move the crane. To do that, aim at the yellow and black paddle you see just below the crane’s arm so that you can rotate it. You need to hit the one on the right with your Leviathan Axe, as displayed in the image above.
The crane will finally move, and you can use the grapple on the left to reach the other platform. At this point, you need to rotate the crane twice so that you will be able to swing the torch to the other side, burning the brambles that block your path. You can hit the paddle below the crane’s arm with your Leviathan Axe to achieve that.
Once you see the torch in front of you, you can interact with it using your Blades of Chaos, and the game will prompt you to do so by pressing the Circle button. Move that big bucket of fire towards you, and then throw it to the brambles on the broken bridge. Repeat it a few times to clear the path, and then you are ready to proceed.
At this point, you need to go back to the initial platform by rotating the crane again and using the grapple. Finally, you can cross the broken bridge by moving the crane one last time. You can use the grapple to cross it and continue your journey in God of War Ragnarok.
In this area, you can also find a Nornir chest that needs to be unlocked to be opened. You must light all three torches you find nearby to do that. For two of them, you need to use the bucket of fire attached to the crane, and for the last one, located near the far end of the bridge, you can use your Blades of Chaos.
