God of War Ragnarok – Five Tips on Getting Started-October 2024
Oct 24, 2024 4:25 AM

After a long wait, God of War Ragnarok is finally here. The game, available on PS5 and PS4, follows the deeds of Kratos and his son Atreus in the Norn lands as they deal with Fimbulwinter and its tremendous effects. Ragnarok features improved gameplay mechanics and offers different secondary quests, hidden treasures, collectibles, and much more, giving players a memorable journey. Therefore, we have put together five valuable tips and tricks to help you get started with God of War Ragnarok.

Listen to Atreus and Mimir’s Hints

Atreus and Mimir are valuable allies and can assist you countless times with their hints. During combat, they will warn you if an enemy is coming from behind or you are about to get hit by any ranged attack. While exploring new areas, they can also give you some advice that will help you solve puzzles if you get stuck with one of them. Pay close attention to what they say, even if it might be difficult during the most challenging fights because they can literally save your life.

Don’t Hesitate To Go Off The Beaten Path

Exploration is crucial in God of War Ragnarok, as many secrets, chests, treasures, collectibles, and side quests can be unlocked and carried on alongside the main storyline. While on a mission, don’t be afraid to follow secondary routes, as you will enhance your experience and find that extra loot you need to improve your gear or make your way through the game’s trophies on PS5 and PS4. Many items are scattered through each of the Nine Realms, and you will miss most of them if you follow the standard path without taking any little detour from it. Plus, the majority of the rewards are definitely worth that extra time.

Swap Between Your Weapons Frequently

Since the beginning of the game, you can count on your Leviathan Axe and Blades of Chaos to slash enemies. Both weapons are mighty and can be powered up as you progress through the story. You can easily swap between them anytime, depending on the foes you will encounter. The Leviathan Axe is usually the best choice against one or two enemies, while the Blades of Chaos work best when dealing with a large group of foes. Moreover, each weapon has unique elemental effects that might be more or less effective, depending on your enemies. You can swap between the Axe and the Blades whenever you want, so you can adapt your playstyle to your needs and make the most out of them.

Break All The Pots You Find Along The Way

As you explore the Nine Realms in God of War Ragnarok, you will find many pots and crates you can break with your weapons. Make sure you don’t miss any of them, as you will often find some Hacksilver that can be spent to upgrade your gear and, from time to time, even health and rage stones to regenerate the corresponding bars before the next fight. You will usually find pots and crates near the corners of a room or out in nature, usually in a dimly lit area.

Don’t Forget To Call For Atreus’ Help During Fights

While in a fight, you can count on Atreus’ help to beat the enemies. Kratos’ son relies on his bow and can throw arrows at foes at your command, which is tied to the Square button. Don’t forget that, and make sure you press it multiple times, as Atreus has plenty of arrows at his disposal and is not afraid of using them. This way, you will have an easier time against most enemies and fill their stun meter more quickly. God of War Ragnarok gives you plenty of options to customize the way you fight, so don’t take the time you need to experiment with your weapons and companion.

God of War Ragnarok is a massive game with many side quests that, along with the main storyline, will keep you busy for many hours. You will soon find other Ragnarok guides on Wccftech, so stay tuned!
