God of War Producer: PS4 Is A “Behemoth”, Hints At Scenes From Previous Games Recreated In New Game And More-October 2024

The yet to be titled new entry of the God of War series is definitely among the most interesting titles that have been shown during Sony E3 2016 press conference. Just from what has been shown so far, it's pretty clear how the new entry of the series will be quite different from the previous games, and producer Cory Barlog recently revealed some details about these changes, teasing something interesting in the process.

During a new interview with EPNdotTV, Cory Barlog has been asked about the reasons behind the changes seen in the God of War E3 2016 showing. Cory Barlog revealed that the team wanted to expand the God of War world and show a different side of Kratos. With the E3 footage, the team wanted to see if fans would root for Kratos in a rather different situation than in the past, and the reaction has been quite positive. Further elaborating on the changes seen in the new God of War footage, Cory Balrog also praised the PlayStation 4 console, defining it as a behemoth which opened up a lot of different possibilities.

Among the reasons behind the huge change in tone for the new God of War game, Cory Balrog mentioned that he feels like we are in an era where players long for deeper stories in video games, much deeper stories that dramatically challenge people to dig a bit deeper and that don't hand out answers straight away. While he admits that The Last of Us from Naughty Dog definitely paved the way in this regard, Cory Balrog feels like the new God of War will be like the jump from Resident Evil 3 to Resident Evil 4, with players being ready for a radical change.

At the end of the interview, Cory Balrog also teased a very interesting feature. When asked about the possible inclusion of scenes from previous games of the series recreated in the new engine and new camera angle, Cory Balrog simply stated that this might be possible. Considering how good the game already looks, this should make all long time fans of the series quite happy.

God of War is currently in development exclusively for PlayStation 4.
