It seems nobody’s gods are safe from Kratos. The grumpy God of War protagonist who thoroughly trashed Olympus over the course of four games, and is now gearing up to make trouble for the Norse gods, may have a full death and destruction world tour planned. This info comes from an interview with God of War director Cory Barlog in the latest issue of Game Informer (as relayed by GameSpot):

　　"The Greek games were the Greek era of God of War. Moving on, the next mythological belief system he interacts with became the Norse era of God of War. But we may end up going on to the Egyptian era and the Mayan era and so on and so forth."

　　But why did the God of War developers at SIE Santa Monica decide to move away from the Greek setting in the first place? Studio boss Shannon Studstill explained the decision.

　　“A lot of people throughout the organization wanted [God of War] to sleep and rest. What became apparent to me was that we were watching this franchise wane a bit. It was getting old. The storyline with Kratos being the hardcore badass -- I think people were starting to say, 'What's next?’ I felt like, in order to reinvent, we really needed to turn a lot of things around."

　　Is “Kratos, world-travelling god killer” something people actually want to see? I’m not entirely sure. Kratos taking revenge on the Greek gods was a fine as a specific story, but the guy having to crush mythological creatures wherever he goes might get a little old. I suppose it could work if Sony continues to grow and develop Kratos’ character, as they seem to be doing in the new God of War.
