Oct 28, 2024 12:26 AM

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has today announced that its award-winning Cambridge studio--which is responsible for the likes of C-12: Final Resistance, Primal, and the MediEvil series--is currently working on an adventure game called Ghosthunter. The game will see players assuming the role of a Detroit cop named Lazarus Jones who stumbles upon a ghost research laboratory while on a routine patrol through a derelict a school with his partner, Anna Steele. The pair inadvertently releases a host of spirits and monsters, and while Steele is abducted by one of the ghosts, another fuses with Jones, giving him the ability to see into the realm of the dead--an ability he'll need to put to good use as a demon hunter if he's ever to rescue his partner.

"With Ghosthunter, SCEE Studio Cambridge has created a dark, atmospheric fantasy that will appeal to both gamers and horror fans," said Chris Deering, president, SCEE. "The game utilizes the PlayStation 2's technical capabilities to combine film-quality graphics and sound with well-developed characters and a compelling storyline, delivering a rich, cinematic experience that fully captures the essence of the action-horror genre."

According to SCEE, Ghosthunter will feature elements of stealth, exploration, and action, and it is inspired by the cinematic styling of classic horror films. No specific European or North American release dates have been confirmed at this time, but we'll bring you more information on Ghosthunter as soon as it becomes available.
