This morning, NovaLogic announced that it would be giving away copies of its forthcoming space-combat game, Tachyon: The Fringe, to anyone who signs up for at least three months of Earthlink's standard dial-up service. Gamers who buy the game and sign up for an Earthlink account will receive a US$45 rebate from NovaLogic, which covers the Tachyon's retail price.
"Getting the single-player game for free is just the icing on the cake," said NovaLogic president and CEO John Garcia. "Tachyon also offers for free the kind of large-scale multiplay gamers expect to find only on pay-for-play services. The partnership with Earthlink means we're effectively offering two great games for free."
Tachyon: The Fringe went gold last Friday, and NovaLogic is expected to make an official announcement sometime this week. Expect the game to appear on store shelves by mid-April.
