George Clooney famously starred in the Ocean's 11 series of heist films as the ringleader Danny Ocean, and many are wondering if Clooney and company might get back together for another movie. That was the plan, but when series star Bernie Mac passed away, plans for future installments with the main crew were put on hold. But now, Clooney has said there is a "really good script" in place for another Ocean's movie.
"We have a really good script for another Ocean's now, so we may end up doing another one. It's actually a great script," Clooney told Uproxx.
Asked if it would be called Ocean's 14, Clooney said, "Well, I don't want to call it that." Instead, Clooney said the movie idea is for something like the film Going In Style, which follows a group of senior citizens who pull a heist.
Clooney was talking about the 1979 Going In Style which starred George Burns and Art Carney. Burns was 79 when he made the movie, and Clooney remarked, "We're not quite that old."
In 2017, Zac Braff directed a remake of Going In Style starring Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, and Alan Arkin.
Ocean's 11 director Steven Soderbergh has said he's been thinking about another entry in the series, so it seems plans might be finally coming together to make it happen.
Clooney's Ocean's 11 movie followed the 1960 movie starring Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., and Dean Martin. The reboot debuted in 2001, starring Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, Casey Affleck, Bernie Mac, Carl Reiner, Elliot Gould, Don Cheadle, and Andy Garcia. Sequels Ocean's 12 and Ocean's 13 followed.
Beyond those, Ocean's 8 premiered in 2018, telling the story of Danny Ocean's sister Debbie (Sandra Bullock), with a cast that also included Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Rihanna, Awkwafina, Sarah Paulson, and Helena Bonham Carter.
While we don't know for sure just yet if another entry in the mainline series is coming, what has been confirmed is that Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie will star in a prequel as Danny Ocean's parents.
