Nvidia has just announced that it's planning to bring its game streaming service GeForce Now to  Android devices as the year progresses. GeForce Now is still is in infancy and isn't available to users on all platforms. The app is currently in beta across all devices and it should end in a couple of months. Nvidia just put out a press release that sheds some more light on the future of GeForce Now.

　　GeForce NOW will soon extend to one of the most popular screens in the world, Android phones — including flagship devices from LG and Samsung. Just like on PC, Mac and SHIELD TV, when the Android mobile app releases it’ll be in beta. We’ll continue improving and optimizing the experience. To take full advantage of the mobile experience, we’re recommending gaming with a Bluetooth gamepad, such as SHIELD controller, Razer Raiju Mobile or Steelseries Stratus Duo, as some games will be unplayable on an Android phone without a gamepad.

　　Looking a the press release, it appears that the beta will be available only for 'flagship' devices initially. The service will very likely be resource-heavy (more so during beta testing), so it makes sense for Nvidia to limit the trial only to high-end devices initially. There is no word about the official release date just yet, but we should know more about it as the year passes. The press release also heavily emphasised on the Nvidia Shield and stated that several games would require a controller to work. Some of the supported games include hit titles such as Control, Fallout 76, Fortnite, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Wolfenstein: Youngblood and World of Tanks.

　　With Google Stadia's release on the horizon, it comes as no surprise that Nvidia is ramping up its GeForce Now efforts. The latter already supports about 500 games and 'thousands more' will be added as the service matures. Lastly, Nvidia has also launched its first RTX servers in Germany and Northern California today. This RTX access should expand to the rest of Europe as well as North America in the coming months. Nvidia is currently accepting volunteers for the closed beta. Head over to this link to register.
