As expected, NVIDIA released a new GeForce Game Ready driver (version 531.79) today, delivering day-one optimization for Arkane Austin's open world first person shooter game Redfall. GeForce GPU owners can download the 900MB driver from the official website or via GeForce Experience.
NVIDIA partnered with Bethesda to market the game with new GeForce RTX GPUs purchased at select retailers. They also joined forces with Arkane to add technologies like DLSS 2 (Super Resolution), DLSS 3 (Frame Generation), and Reflex to Redfall.
NVIDIA's official benchmark registered an average of 188.6 frames per second using an RTX 4090 graphics card at 4K resolution and max settings with DLSS Frame Generation enabled and DLSS Super Resolution set to Performance mode. That tracks with my testing, where DLSS Super Resolution set to Quality provided an average of 167 frames per second with the same GPU.
According to NVIDIA, the remaining RTX 40 Series GPUs can run the game smoothly, too. The RTX 4080 is close to 150 frames per second, the RTX 4070Ti is almost at 120 frames per second, and the recently released 4070 stays above 100 frames per second.
Redfall should also receive ray tracing effects with a post-launch update. There's no schedule for it yet, however.
The GeForce Game Ready driver 531.79 is also optimized for the upcoming Diablo IV Server Slam weekend, due to take place next week. As with the previous beta weekends, DLSS 2 will be available, with DLSS 3 expected to be in the game at launch.
The tactical strategy game Showgunners is out today with NVIDIA DLSS 2 support. Later this month, the puzzle/platform game Daydream: Forgotten Sorrow launches with ray traced reflections, ambient occlusion, shadows, and NVIDIA DLSS 2 support, while the System Shock remake (on which we published a massive interview with Nightdive last week) is set to launch on May 30th with NVIDIA DLSS 2.
