Gears Of War 4 Made “Stunning Progress”; Game Shown Off To Xbox’s Phil Spencer-November 2024
Nov 5, 2024 6:33 AM

Gears of War 4 has been shown off to Microsoft’s head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, and according Spencer, the game made “stunning progress”.

Earlier this week we reported how the upcoming Gears 4 would be a graphical showcase for the Xbox One, just like the original Gears of War was for the Xbox 360.

Overnight, Microsoft’s Phil Spencer took to Twitter to share that The Coalition made some “stunning progress” with Gears of Wars 4. According the Xbox head, it remembered him of seeing ‘Warfare’ for the first time, and he had the same feeling with Gears 4. Spencer probably refers to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare which launched back in November 2014.

@GearsViking Stunning progress by @CoalitionGears. I remember seeing "Warfare" for the first time, same feeling today with Gears 4.

Gears of War 4 is expected to release in Fall 2016 for the Xbox One. An E3 teaser from the game can be checked out below:

The game was officially announced during Microsoft’s E3 2015 media briefing. During the briefing, Rod Fergusson showed off the game on stage live. The rights to the Gears franchise were obtained by Microsoft back in 2014.

Today we’re excited to announce that Microsoft Studios has acquired the rights to the “Gears of War” franchise from Epic Games, including rights to all existing and future games, entertainment experiences and merchandise. In addition, we are excited to announce that Black Tusk Studios in Vancouver, BC will take over development of the “Gears of War” franchise and that Rod Fergusson, former Director of Production at Epic Games on the “Gears of War” franchise, will join Microsoft and play a key studio leadership role at Black Tusk on the development of the franchise going forward. We had a chance to chat with Phil Spencer, Head of Microsoft Studios, Hanno Lemke, General Manager of Black Tusk Studios at Microsoft Studios, and Rod Fergusson about the big news.

Black Tusk Studios was renamed to ‘The Coalition’ back in June 2015.
