The upcoming Gears of War 4 will be a "a graphical showcase" for the Xbox One, just like the original Gears of War was for the Xbox 360.
In the last issue of Official Xbox Magazine US, The Coalition's studio head, Rod Fergusson, talked about the upcoming Gears title from the studio. According to Fergusson, the team learned a lot from the 60FPS multiplayer experience in Gears of War Ultimate, and they want to carry this experience over for Gears 4 as well.
Delivering [with Ultimate Edition] the first 60fps multiplayer experience in franchise history really taught us a lot about what it means to have a 60fps culture on the team and we’re leveraging that experience for Gears of War 4.
When the original Gears of War was released for the Xbox 360 back in 2006, the game was praised for its high quality visuals. Among other, the game received an award for best '' Xbox 360 Graphics Technology' from IGN.
Fergusson wants Gears 4 to be a visual showcase for the Xbox One, just as much as the original Gears was on the Xbox 360.
Like how the original Gears of War was a visual showcase for the Xbox 360, Gears of War 4 will be a graphical showcase for the Xbox One.
During the Xbox E3 media briefing in 2015, Fergusson showcased Gears of War 4 live on stage, and announced that the shooter will be coming exclusively to the Xbox One in 2016. One of the game's main characters will be JD and his companion Kait.
Earlier this year, Microsoft's Phil Spencer took to Twitter to tease that Fergusson is holding back some surprises regarding Gears 4 - even for Microsoft's employees. Spencer stated that he played both the game's campaign mode, and its multiplayer mode.
