The Game Developers Conference is set to take place from March 20-24 in San Jose, California, but Web surfers can get a taste of what's to come today. The official Web site for the conference was launched today, along with online registration for both attendees and exhibitors of the trade show. Early registrants can save as much as 35 percent on admission.
The event is described as "by game developers for developers," and it brings together gaming gurus from all platforms, including console, handheld, mobile, and arcade. Speakers at this year's GDC include Maxis' Will Wright, Epic Games' Tim Sweeney, and Foundation 9 Entertainment's Jon Goldman. Keynote speakers will be announced by January.
This year, much of the focus will be on next-generation gaming, but familiar topics will also be highlighted. Visitors can attend sessions focusing on topics that span game music production, business management, and programming methodology.
The GDC began as a humble meeting of game developers in a living room 17 years ago. It has grown considerably since, with attendance climbing to more than 12,000 attendees.
