GameSpot nominated for Webby Award
GameSpot nominated for Webby Award-March 2024
Mar 19, 2025 10:18 AM

This week, the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS) announced the nominees for the Webby Awards, the annual honoring of the Internet's top destinations. The nods cover the entire span of content on the Web, from news institutions such as the NYTimes.com and NBC.com to humor bastions such as the The Onion, Funny or Die, and FAIL Blog.

Now celebrating its 13th year, GameSpot was also among the nominees in the game-related category, along with The Escapist, Rockband.com, Major League Gaming, and Destructoid. It makes the fourth time that GameSpot has been nominated for a Webby. The site was also up for the honor in 2007, 2006, and 2005, the year that the Games-Related Site category was introduced.

Each year it was nominated in the past, GameSpot has been declared the People's Voice Winner, a distinction chosen by a popular online vote. To cast a virtual ballot for the site this year, voters must go to the People's Voice voting page and register. After completing registration, they will receive an activation code that must be submitted to access the official Webby ballot page. Voting will end April 30.

The official Webby Awards will be chosen by IADAS voters and announced on May 5. Winners will be awarded at a ceremony in New York City on June 8th hosted by Saturday Night Live head writer Seth Meyer. As always, acceptance speeches will be limited to five words, as demonstrated by past winners Al Gore ("Please don't recount this vote") and Stephen Colbert ("Me. Me. Me. Me. Me.")
