The WEB Magazine's prestigious awards for best sites on the Web have been announced and GameSpot is among the nominations in the Games category. Last year, GameSpot took home the prize for the People's Voice award for Best Games Site.
Judges for the competition will give awards in these categories: Arts, Community, Education, Film, Games, Health, Home, Living, Money/Business, Music, News, Politics/Law, Print/Zines, Radio, Science, Sports, TV, Travel, and Weird.
Celebrity judges include: Scott Adams, the creator of Dilbert; digital guru Esther Dyson; director Kevin Smith (Chasing Amy, Clerks); Jane editor-in-chief Jane Pratt ; director Allison Anders (Grace of My Heart, Gas, Food & Lodging); Thomas Dolby, musician and CEO of Silicon Valley-based Headspace Inc.; Jon Plunkett, creative director Wired magazine; Greg LeFevre, CNN SF bureau chief; Susan Casey, creative director of Outside Magazine; Joseph Montebello, creative director at Harper Collins; Dave Eggers, editor for Esquire Magazine; and Rand and Robyn Miller, creators of Myst and Riven CD-ROMs.
The big show will take place at a gala awards ceremony and party at San Francisco's Palace of Fine Arts and the Exploratorium on March 6, 1998. GameSpot will be among the 2,000 other movers and shakers in cyberculture, media, and entertainment.
There will be a web cast of all the festivities and we're sure you'll see some GameSpotters shaking their booty on the dance floor.
