Gamescom Opening Night Live was briefly interrupted by a stage crasher, in an incident remarkably similar to the one at The Game Awards in December.
The incident occurred just after a new trailer debuted for Starfield, as host Geoff Keighley prepared to introduce Todd Howard to talk more about the upcoming space-faring RPG. The stage crasher was quickly escorted away, after attempting to shout something into Keighley's microphone.
The moment recalled one at The Game Awards when someone took the stage during the acceptance speech for Elden Ring's Game of the Year award. In that instance, he actually gained access to a microphone and gave a short, bizarre statement.
Security took care of this instance much faster, and Keighley talked over the interruption by saying it was disappointing to have someone act this way on a night to celebrate games. Still, it shows a security lapse that could represent a risk to presenters or others in attendance. In a statement on Twitter, Keighley thanked fans for their support despite the interruption.
Thanks for all your support.
On with the show, and back to the games.
