Nintendo of America has today confirmed that its recently released demo disc--which contains playable demos and preview movies of upcoming games like Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg, Viewtiful Joe, Soul Calibur II, and Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike--will be given away free with new GameCube consoles in North America.
"We wanted to showcase a few of the best, exclusive Nintendo GameCube games coming out later this year and whet consumers' appetite for our ever-expanding library," said Peter MacDougall, executive vice president, sales and marketing, Nintendo of America. "And including the Game Boy Player as an alternate value option creates a perfect fit, literally, with Nintendo GameCube. We're confident these great deals will be the industry's big summer blockbusters."
For $149.95, new GameCube owners will now get both the demo disc and their choice of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (which has only recently been made available as part of the GameCube bundle), Metroid Prime, Star Fox Adventures, or Mario Party 4. On June 23 the bundle offer will offer even more choices, as the Game Boy Player peripheral will be available in place of the free game.
