Game On Melbourne exhibition
Game On Melbourne exhibition-November 2024
Nov 2, 2024 6:20 AM

Over the past decade, gaming has gone through the transition from kid's hobby to a mainstream form of media. As other media forms have done before it, gaming is now at the point where we're able to look back and study its history--it's gameography, if you will.

The Australian Centre for Moving Image (ACMI) in Melbourne have decided to compile an exhibition on the history of video games called Game On. Gamers can expect to see a variety of both old and new gaming treasures ranging from original Mario illustrations by Shigeru Miyamoto, to high definition LCDs linked up playing the record breaking Halo 3.

Anyone interested in going to see Game On can either book their tickets online here, or go to the convention centre on Flinders Street in Melbourne. The exhibition is open now and closes on July 13.

School students prepare to enter the exhibition.

Visitors enjoy a quick round of Halo 3.

Way before their time, school kids enjoy a bit of retro action with some arcade machines.

The top 10 consoles are on display.
