In the new book Fire Cannot Kill A Dragon, a Games of Thrones retrospective and behind-the-scenes look at the legendary series, readers learn about some serious pranks going on between producer and actor. The book has a chapter devoted to pranks played on the show's cast and crew.
EW has another preview of the book and goes into detail about one prank in particular that was pulled in 2009 during the filming of the show's original pilot. Showrunner David Benioff remembers playing "the darkest prank ever" on Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) and Maisie Williams (Arya Stark).

Now Playing: Game of Thrones Season 7 - Official Trailer
"Here's a minor prank we pulled during season one: We told Maisie and Sophie that since they were underage, they couldn't come to the pilot wrap party," Benioff said. "So we told them they were going to have a special underage wrap party at McDonald's. They started crying."
"Then they came to the real wrap party and cried through that because they thought they might never see each other again," added showrunner Dan Weiss.

Turner and Williams had become really good friends at that point and the cast and crew didn't know whether the show would get picked up to series. The truth is it almost didn't which it and was only after a discussion with then-HBO CEO Richard Pleper that Benioff and Weiss went back and improved it, almost the point of a visual overhaul improving costumes and even recasting several characters.
