Game Of Thrones Prequel House Of The Dragon Casts The Hobbit's Graham McTavish And 3 More-November 2024

  The Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon, has added four more cast members, including Graham McTavish from The Witcher and The Hobbit. In addition to McTavish, HBO has cast Matthew Needham (Sherlock, The Ritual), Bill Paterson (Fleabag), and Gavin Spokes (Hitmen, Brexit).

  HBO also released the character names and descriptions for the roles that McTavish, Needham, Paterson, and Spokes will play:

  Graham McTavish as Ser Harrold Westerling. Ser Harrold has served in the Kingsguard since the days of King Jaehaerys; he is a paragon of chivalry and honor.Matthew Needham as Larys Strong. The younger son of Master of Laws Lyonel Strong, he's brought to court by his father.Bill Paterson plays Lord Lyman Beesbury, the Lord of Honeyholt and Master of Coin on King Viserys's small council.Gavin Spokes is Lord Lyonel Strong. He's Master of Laws to King Viserys and Lord of Harrenhal.Set hundreds of years before Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon follows the drama involving the House Targaryen. "As King Viserys (Paddy Considine) reaches the end of his reign, a brutal battle for succession kicks off between his beloved daughter Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) and his second wife Queen Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke), who wants the throne for her sons," reads a line from the show's description.

  Doctor Who's Matt Smith and Harry Potter actor Rhys Ifans also star in the series. The show is expected to premiere on HBO Max in 2022.

  In other news, it was recently reported that HBO is developing two additional Game of Thrones animated shows, bringing the total to three. However, development doesn't mean production, so there is no word on if any of them will actually go forward and be seen through to release.
