Game of Thrones actor Liam Cunningham, who played Davos in the original series, has said he is keen to return for the upcoming Jon Snow TV series, if it gets made. Speaking to Den of Geek prior to the start of the SAG-AFTRA strike, Cunningham said he texted Jon Snow actor Kit Harington but hasn't received a reply as of yet.
"I did send [Kit] a text saying, 'Better Call Davos,'" he said with a laugh, referencing Better Call Saul. "I haven't heard anything back. I wish them the best to whoever's involved in it, and if the check is big enough, I might even show up again!"
The Jon Snow TV series was pitched by Harington himself along with author George R.R. Martin. HBO management said earlier this year that Harington remains attached to star and executive produce the series, but there is no guarantee that it will ever be made.
Also in the interview, Cunningham spoke about how he believes Game of Thrones will continue to be popular for a long time to come, as people discover the show.
"I think Game of Thrones is one of those things that after each decade, people are going to discover as if the previous decade had forgotten it. I think it's going to be rediscovered," he said.
Game of Thrones might be similar to Star Wars, Cunningham said. "Star Wars has been going on forever, and some of them have been great quality, and some of them not so great. It's a world that people are fascinated with, and long may it continue."
In addition to the Jon Snow series, HBO is developing other spinoffs, including Sea Snake, The Hedge Knight, Ten Thousand Ships, and multiple animated series. Whether or not any of these shows are ever seen through to release remains to be seen, however.
The one Game of Thrones spinoff that has been released so far, House of the Dragon, has proven to be very successful. Season 2 is now in production, and filming continues despite the ongoing Hollywood strikes.
