Strategy First and Stardock have announced that there's a free expansion pack for Galactic Civilizations coming this summer. The expansion will add a number of major features: an integrated technology navigator to make it easier to understand the tech tree; a new minor race, the arnor; the ability to set rally points for ship production; many new technologies; new anomalies; and new linked events. Other changes include an additional "nightmare" difficulty level, a new game ending, and new graphics for stars on the main display that will make them look less flat.

　　"We are so thankful to the game's loyal fan base and wanted to offer everyone something new to jump into," said Brad Wardell, Stardock's project lead on the game. "This expansion pack is an incredible value and we're giving it away for free, so hopefully all you gamers out there will try it out and enjoy it."
