Fans rallied behind Valve following their announcement that Frostivus was to make a return in the coming days. But some things are obviously not meant to be as Frostivus has been cancelled, according to the official Frostivus page on dota2.com. What's also worth mentioning is that the hero Skeleton King has been removed from the game in the most recent patch.
In all seriousness, the announcement plays in to the lore of this year's Frostivus event which is being discussed feverously on several Dota 2 related community sites. So far, the main consensus amongst fans is that the removal of the hero Skeleton King is simply a means to have him remodeled and renamed to the, as of yet unreleased, Dota 2 hero Wraith King who will then be featured as a boss in the upcoming Frostivus game mode.
