The video-game movie Free Guy will be coming to Disney+ on February 23, 2022 according to a release sent out by the streaming service.
Free Guy, which was favorably received by fans and critics alike, stars Ryan Reynolds in what's essentially The Truman Show set in an open-world video game loosely inspired by Grand Theft Auto and Fortnite. Reynolds stars as a non-player character, a bank teller, who becomes self-aware and determined to become the game's hero--which wreaks all kinds of havoc and glitching with the game's programming. The film also stars Jodie Comer, Lil Rel Howery, Joe Keery, Utkarsh Ambudkar, and Taika Waititi.
News of Free Guy's upcoming arrival on Disney+ was shared along with a new video, which you can see above, offering looks at some of the most highly-anticipated titles coming next year to the platform, including Eternals, The Book of Boba Fett, The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, Hocus Pocus 2, Limitless with Chris Hemsworth, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, Moon Knight and more.
After repeated delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Free Guy was released on August 13, 2021 and took in $331.5 million at the box office. Before release, there were already plans for an ambitious sequel.
