The clock is ticking on one public relations agency's birthday gift to the industry. Michael Meyers, longtime game industry PR pro whose own agency, Michael Meyers Public Relations, celebrates its first year in business this week, is throwing away the ledger sheet. For the current business week, he is offering his agency's expertise to publishers, developers, and related game industry businesses, free of charge.
GameSpot spoke with Meyers yesterday to see how the idea is playing. He said he had received over a dozen calls or e-mails posing questions and seeking advice.
Questions Meyers and his team are prepared to respond to include their view on where to spend one's advertising dollars, and how to launch (or promote) a product with little or no money.
As Meyers said to GameSpot, "We think it's a win-win for us to essentially do pro-bono PR work for a week. We get to help a bunch of companies that have PR needs, while the same companies learn about Michael Meyers Public Relations and what we can do."
Is giving away expertise an idea whose time has come? If so, it's an idea that is in limited supply--the offer is extended to the games industry for one week, November 10 through 14.
