Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 introduces a new, interesting item called Chrome Splash. If used on yourself, it turns you chromed for some time, giving you the option to sprint faster while in blob form. This item, however, can also be used if thrown on other objects, such as walls. This guide will provide all the relevant information about the brand-new Chrome Splash in Fortnite, along with some tips and strategies.
If you can’t find them anywhere, however, you can always head to Maximillian, an NPC located on a floating platform between Shifty Shafts and Coney Crossroads, near the lake, just below the main road. He will sell you some Chrome Splashes for 250 Gold each. You can refer to the map below and look at the blue place marker for the exact location of this NPC.
While in the blob form, you will also be immune from fall damage. If you get hit by other players, you will turn back to your standard yet-chromed form until the effect of this Epic item ends. In fact, the impact of the Chrome Splash won’t last forever on yourself or your teammates. You will stay in this form for just a little more than 30 seconds.
Let’s talk about the effect of the Chrome Splash on buildings now. If you launch this item on a wall, you can pass through it and reach the other room in a few seconds without having to destroy it with your handaxe, even if you are not in the chromed form. In this case, however, you can only jump through vertical walls, not through floors or ceilings. The effect on the structure is permanent. Moreover, Chrome Splashes can be used on cars, for example, and they will also become resistant to fire.
You can use the Chrome Splash on yourself to escape from the Storm quicker and also run away from any difficult situation. While in combat, you can activate it to become immune from fire damage, so any Grenade or Firefly Jar thrown by enemies won’t affect you.
