Forspoken 1.20 Patch Introduces New Gameplay Features, Quality-of-Life Improvements-October 2024
Oct 25, 2024 9:26 AM

A new Forspoken patch has gone live today, introducing new gameplay features and quality-of-life improvements to the game.

Patch 1.20 expands the experience considerably by adding plenty of new gameplay features, such as the ability to have Tantas' Familiars follow Frey after befriending them, a new Cuff Crush attack, the ability to use magic parkour in mid-air, the Revivifier and Stormshard consumables, which bring Frey back to live and let her fight against giant Nightmares if used in the right location respectively, and a new Very Hard difficulty setting that will put players' skills to the test.

The new Forspoken patch also introduces some quality-of-life improvements, such as adjustments to certain animations and the amount of banter between Frey and Cuff, new options to customize camera movement and hide all HUD elements, and others. You can learn more about the new features and improvements introduced by the patch by going here.

While the new gameplay features and improvements are welcome, they cannot address Forspoken's biggest issues, such as the weak role-playing game systems, the underwhelming activities, and the middling story and characters. Despite these issues, the game can be quite fun thanks to its combat system and magic parkour, as highlighted by Alessio in his review.

Forspoken is a fun action game that shines best when you're taking advantage of the great magic parkour to soar through the fantasy world of Athia and blast enemies with overwhelmingly cool spells. However, its content is underwhelming, its RPG systems are weak, and its visuals are less advanced than advertised. As such, Forspoken's potential is largely unrealized in its current state. It's still a decent romp for genre fans to go through, though waiting until it gets a discount or is added to one of the many subscription services is recommended.

Forspoken is now available on PC and PlayStation 5 worldwide.
