Flock out, Guthrie and Curran up at THQ
Flock out, Guthrie and Curran up at THQ-November 2024
Nov 7, 2024 3:42 PM

WWE SmackDown and Stuntman Ignition publisher THQ saw some changes in its boardroom this week. First up, executive vice president of worldwide publishing Kelly Flock has left his longtime employer, citing "personal reasons." The veteran executive, who was last seen looking casual as he gave THQ's presentation at the E3 Media & Business Summit, will continue on as a consultant for an unspecified time.

"Over his two-year tenure with the company, Kelly has helped build a world class publishing organization deep with talent and expertise," said THQ president and CEO Brian Farrell in a statement. "We appreciate his contributions to the business."

Flock's latest career move might be the final act in a long and storied career in the game industry. Prior to his tenure at THQ, he served as president and CEO of Sony Online Entertainment, president of the now-defunct 989 Studios, and president of Sony Interactive Studios America. Flock was general manager of LucasArts in the early 1990s, and worked at Activision and Electronic Arts in the late 1980s.

Flock's exit coincided with two promotions. Former senior vice president of North American sales and distribution Scott Guthrie is now THQ's executive vice president, and will lead the publisher's global brand management. Ian Curran, once the company's senior vice president - international, has been made executive vice president. He will head up sales, distribution, and marketing efforts for territories outside the Western Hemisphere.
