Fist of the Northstar, one of the most popular manga series ever made, will be adapted by the developers of the Yakuza franchise for PlayStation 4 with a projected 2018 release date in Japan.
The announcement came during a presentation in Tokyo's Akihabara UDX Theater. Fist of the Northstar will feature an original story based on the manga universe and, as you would expect, it will use Yakuza's trademark combat system as well as a number of mini-games. Moreover, series protagonist Kenshiro will be voiced by the same Japanese voice actor who played Kazuma Kiryu.

Not much else is known, though SEGA confirmed that more of Fist of the Northstar will be revealed during the upcoming Tokyo Game Show 2017 convention (September 21-24).

However, there's a lot more from the development team. We already knew of Yakuza Kiwami 2 because of the leak, but now SEGA shared the first trailer and details.
It's being remade with the Dragon Engine (the same used in Yakuza 6: The Song of Life). It will feature seamless exploration of Osaka and Tokyo and even a new playable scenario with fan-favorite Majima. The game will be out in Japan on December 7th, 2017.
Yakuza Online was another big surprise after Fist of the Northstar. Releasing on mobile devices and PC in 2018 as a free-to-play game, Yakuza Online will also introduce the new main Yakuza protagonist: Kasuga Ichiban.
He will be the lead of the New Yakuza Project, taking over from Kazuma Kiryu. This new console project will continue after Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, though it'll probably be a while before we get to play it in Western countries considering how many projects SEGA is now working on.
