Apple’s Special Event has kicked off, and the first piece of interesting news regarding the gaming side of Apple devices is that Nintendo has a brand new smartphone video game that will be available to Apple users exclusively via iOS app store. The game is called Super Mario Run, and as the name implies, it features Mario sprinting automatically from left to right; all players have to do is tap the screen to make the character jump and collect coins.
As players progress through Super Mario Run, new power-ups will be available that will affect the game’s main mechanics. One great new features that will be available is a new Battle Mode called “Toad Rally,” in which players will able to compete against and best other another player’s high score. Other players will be represented by new stickers, which are coming to iMessage as well.

Super Mario Run will come as a single purchase, there will be no in-game microtransactions. Nintendo will release the game in time for holiday 2016. Chances are that it could come to Android as well in the future, as during the announcement, Apple boss Time Cook said the game is coming to iOS platforms “first.”
An App store listing for Super Mario Run is now also live. "At long last, Mario jumps into a new adventure on iPhone and iPad, this time playable using only one hand. Even if this is your first Mario game, you won't be able to put it down," it reads. "In this game, you constantly move forward through the courses while using a variety of jumps to navigate. Your character will behave differently depending on the timing of your taps, so it's up to you to show off particularly smooth moves, gather coins, and reach the goal.”
We already reported on Nintendo's plans to introduce its original IPs on non-Nintendo platforms, especially mobile devices. You can read more about it here.
