Fans of Hydro Thunder take note: Midway's next installment in the Thunder series is coming. Titled Offroad Thunder, this new arcade game will offer the same excitement as Hydro Thunder, except now you're in the driver's seat of an off-road truck. And judging from these screens, Offroad Thunder could offer one heck of a fun ride when it releases next year.

　　The game will let you select from eight trucks (with four secret ones) and then place you on eight stadium tracks with different levels of difficulty. Offroad Thunder will also let you play through different modes. The rally mode is straight-up racing - first one to the finish line winds. Then comes the snag-the-flag mode, which is essentially everyone for themselves - you get points when you're in possession of the flag (other cars can slam into you to steal it). And lastly, there's the demolition mode, where it's all about destroying the other trucks. (You get points for slamming into them.)

　　Like Hydro Thunder, Offroad Thunder will also come with loads of secrets, nitros, and other elements.

　　Offroad Thunder is currently being prepared for an arcade release in late January or early February of 2000. No console versions have been announced yet, but Midway has a similar game called 4 Wheel Thunder coming to the Dreamcast in late March.
