First look: Internal Pain
First look: Internal Pain-January 2024
Jan 13, 2025 11:47 AM

Fantasy Studio's first project, titled Internal Pain, generated a few rumors when details of the game were announced this week. There were reports that the game will be released for the Microsoft Xbox, but according to Slovakian developer Fantasy Studio, the game is currently running on Geforce3 cards and the company is actively looking for a publisher--an Xbox release is only a possibility at this time, dependant on publisher selection. Whether Fantasy Studio will ultimately release the game on the Xbox, Sony PlayStation 2, or Nintendo GameCube is general speculation, at this point. Still, the Xbox remains a viable platform for the game.

"At the moment, we only have a technology demo for the PC platform, and later we would like to work on a Xbox version, if we are given development kits," Roland Friedrich, director of Fantasy Studio, told GameSpot. "We would like to find a distributor for our game within 3 weeks, who will have the right to say what the console platform will be."

Internal Pain is a first-person action game set in a science fiction environment. Four allied races, which consist of cybernetic organisms, insectoids, amphibious humanoids, and pure humanoids, are in search of a new planet to occupy after a huge catastrophe has taken place in the known universe. When they land on the new planet, an evil force soon appears and each race has to fend for their own survival. The player can choose one of four characters from each race. Each character has different physical attributes and abilities. Fantasy Studio promises that the player can make independent decisions according to his or her preferences. This will ultimately lead to a wildly dynamic storyline that will allow up to 59 different endings. There will also be 39 levels, each with around 10 rooms. The enemies will be clever, as they will hide in dynamic shadows and attack aggressively once they see an opportunity to do so. Besides the single-player story mode, there are also multiplayer coop and deathmatch modes planned. The game will be in development for another 20-24 months, with a dedicated team of around 20 people.

We'll keep you updated on the game's progress. While the company originally released rendered artwork, we have actual in-game screenshots to give you a better idea of the game's visuals. Naturally, the screens shown are from the current PC version.
