TOKYO - Sony revealed a new music-puzzle game for the PlayStation2 at the PlayStation Festival in Japan, and we were able to check it out today. Titled Be on the Edge (BOE), the game is one of the more interesting titles that we've seen at the show. It uses a graphical style that looks somewhat like a cross between Parappa and a cartoon show, which is pretty cool.
As for how Be on the Edge plays, we're not sure, as we couldn't figure it out. Apparently, you must lay down specific blocks at the bottom of the screen to keep a steady beat that goes along with the music. Our Japanese correspondent Yutaka Ohbuchi gave the game a test run for a while today, and he said that though it looked really neat, the gameplay was somewhat elementary. According to him, it quickly became old.
In any case, it's definitely worth checking out, though, as the game does dare to be very different. See our first movies and screens.
