The sequel to Atari's popular coin-op gun game Area 51, named Area 51 - Site 4, will head to arcades next month. The title sees a mix of target/puzzle gun games like Police Trainer and Point Blank with elements of more action-oriented coin-ops like House of the Dead.
The first three training "sites" of the game provide six skill-based events wherein players must, for example, blast alien worms before they burrow into corpses in a morgue, shoot enemy rockets out of the sky (a la Missile Command), destroy an onrushing horde of aliens before they tip over the Atari bus, or cap UFOs defending the Kronn mothership (in what seems like a gun game version of Atari's classic Star Wars coin-op).
Site 4 is where the gameplay becomes more akin to Area 51, although there are now a variety of weapons (such as shotguns and machine guns), tougher aliens, and an overall queen alien boss who's fond of throwing fireballs, chunks of concrete, and even smaller aliens at the player.
Check out the following shots for a look at all four sites of Area 51 - Site 4, and expect more information and shots in next week's arcade game feature on videogames.com.
