Independent Arts has recently launched an official Web site for a historical real-time strategy game named Against Rome. In the game, players will assume control of one of three different barbarian tribes attempting to survive the invasion of the mighty Roman Empire.
The only one of the three playable barbarian nations in the game to have been named at this time are the Teutons, although Independent Arts has also stated that players will be able to take command of the Roman army in the game's historical battles mode. Each of the playable nations in Against Rome will have no less than 10 different unit types and 15 different buildings, along with skills, formations, and heathen magic unique to them.
With the emphasis placed firmly on tactical battles as opposed to base construction and the training of armies, Against Rome will feature a total of 24 campaign missions and 24 scenarios designed for use in the game's multiplayer, tutorial, and historical battle modes. In multiplayer, the game will support up to eight players via the Internet or a LAN.
Against Rome will is scheduled for release through JoWood toward the end of this year. We'll bring you more information on the game as soon as it becomes available.
