First Ghostbusters: Afterlife Clip Shows Paul Rudd And Mini Stay-Puft Marshmallows-October 2024
Oct 19, 2024 3:16 PM

The first clip from Sony's upcoming Ghostbusters: Afterlife movie has arrived, and it's a mixture of sweet and scary. In the clip, we see Paul Rudd shopping at a grocery store when he stumbles by miniature versions of the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man from the first Ghostbusters film.

These marshmallow mini-pufts break out of their packaging and wreak havoc on the storm. They are also murderers, as some of them skewer others and roast them on a barbecue to make a s'more. They look sweet and cuddly, but appear to be actual monsters that are no fun to be around. Because they are so cute and cuddly-looking, it's probably only a matter of time before Sony Pictures decides to whip them into a promotional product to sell, as is the way.

Afterlife is directed by Jason Reitman, the son of original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman. Set in the same universe as the earlier films, Afterlife follows the story of a single mom and her two children who live in a small town. Several strange occurrences begin to take place, and the children discover their true family identity and who their grandfather actually is.

The mother is played by Carrie Coon (Fargo), with Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard and McKenna Grace (Fuller House) playing the children.

Afterlife will feature some of the stars of the original films, including Bill Murray, who recently spoke about why he believes Afterlife is going to be great.

"It really has the feel of the first one, more than the second one or the girls' one," he said of the 2016 film. "It has a different feel than two out of four. I think he's really got something. It was hard. It was really hard. That's why I think it's gonna be good."

Afterlife was one of the many films to be delayed due to the pandemic, but it's finally releasing in November 2021. For more on Afterlife, check out GameSpot's feature, "Ghostbusters Afterlife: Everything We Know About The Spooky Sequel."
