For those who have wanted to try their hands at writing game scripts but never knew where to start can stop chewing on their pencils. The Game Initiative, a collective that produces events and conferences for the gaming industry, has announced the first annual Game Writers Conference.
The congregation will take place in Austin, Texas, at the Austin Convention Center October 26 and 27. Registration is now open, and those who register before August 12 qualify for the early registration price of $145, or $95 for students. After August 12, the fee increases to $165 and $115, respectively.
The lineup of events includes several speeches by industry vets from such establishments as Microsoft and Carnegie Mellon University. Guest speakers will be discussing the finer points of working in tandem with a game designer, creating scripts for massively multiplayer online games, writing for alternate-reality games, and more.
