First Full Length Super Mario Bros. Trailer Is A Full-On Mario Party-November 2024
Nov 15, 2024 6:22 PM

The first full Super Mario Bros. trailer is here with all its Nintendo goodness. We got our first look at footage back with the teaser trailer, which received more than its share of criticism with Mario's voice being, well, exactly what you'd imagine it would be. The animated film is a collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination and was introduced by Mario Bros. creator Shigeru Miyamoto and Chris Meledandri, CEO of Illumination.

In the trailer, which you can see below, there are plenty of Easter eggs for fans including Rainbow Road from Mario Kart, Peach in her racer outfit, as well as hinting at other "galaxies" in the universe, which is a play on words for another Mario series, Super Mario Bros. Galaxy. There's also Peach possessing a fire flower abilities and even Mario in his tanooki suit from Super Mario Bros. 3. Take a look!

If you're uninitiated of the plot of the franchise, the Mario brothers are plumbers who have found themselves sucked into a magical world called the Mushroom Kingdom where they meet a princess, and collide with a reptilian tyrant named Bowser. Here though it looks like the brothers might have been separated in the process with Bowser capturing Luigi (Charlie Day) and asking questions about Mario.

Along with Pratt, Day, and Taylor-Joy, they will be joined by Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike. Charles Martinet, who has historically portrayed Mario and Luigi in the video games since 1992, will have a cameo in an unknown role.

Before the trailer was officially released, posters and character art were leaked online, giving fans an idea of more character designs the movie had in store, especially for Peach and the Koopa Paratroopa, which had previously been unseen.

The Mario movie is expected to hit theaters on April 7, 2023 and will be rated PG.
