Final NHL2K Comes Late
Final NHL2K Comes Late-October 2024
Oct 30, 2024 3:26 AM

Late last week, a reviewable copy of NHL2K for the Dreamcast arrived in our offices, and editor Ryan MacDonald immediately got to playing. He was impressed with how the game had improved over the version we had previously received - there was now better AI, a greater number of options, faster gameplay, and more. But there were a few areas that he felt weren't quite as polished as they should have been. For instance, you'd have the puck and be heading for the other team's goal, and none of your teammates would be around to pass to. In fact, almost all of them would be on other side of the rink, leaving you high and dry. So he gave Black Box, the developers of NHL2K, a call. To his surprise, he found out that the game wasn't actually final - in fact, Black Box was working around the clock to fix certain elements. They said the version they'd sent to Sega three days later was the final reviewable copy. So he held off on writing his review of NHL2K, so as to give the game a fair shot.

Sure enough, yesterday, (Feb. 9) the final - final - version of NHL2K arrived, and it had indeed been improved. So today we posted Ryan's review of the game based on the version that is currently being shipped to stores nationwide. To see it, click on the link to the right. If you find his opinions different from other reviews on the Net, it may be because the other sites didn't have the final version of the game.
