Final Fantasy XVI Will Reportedly Take Nearly 80 Hours To Complete Everything-November 2024
Nov 8, 2024 1:09 AM

It will take around 70 to 80 hours to earn 100% completion in Final Fantasy XVI. This was revealed in a Famitsu interview (as translated by Twitter user @aitaikimochi) with the game's director Hiroshi Takai and producer Naoki Yoshida.

The base game can be finished in around 35 hours, though you can easily spend double that doing everything else Final Fantasy XVI has to offer. "You’ll see the entirety of Clive’s way of life, and the game will probably take about 35 hours to clear," Takai said. "If we include side content, it can be double that amount."

Now Playing: Final Fantasy 16 Preview

The newest Famitsu magazine has new(?) bits of game info for FF16 from the previously released interview with the devs.

Takai says there will be a leader board that you can compete with players around the world, allowing for endless gameplay. Here's my translation:

While there's plenty to do if you want to earn 100% completion, Square Enix wanted to ensure that busy players could reach the end of the game in a reasonable amount of time.

"When the game development was just starting out, I had the idea in mind that gamers these days are really busy with other things, so I wanted them to be able to at least aim to complete the story," Yoshida said. "I thought making the game something you can complete in about 20 hours would make sense, but more and more just got packed in."

However, there's even more in store thanks to the New Game Plus mode. "Not only that, but we also included an insanely difficult New Game Plus mode that allows you to carry over all your stats called the 'Final Fantasy Mode,'" Yoshida explained. "That’ll probably add even more gameplay hours."

Final Fantasy XVI has been in development for a while, but will finally launch for PS5 on June 22, 2023.
