Not a sequel, not really a spin-off - Final Fantasy Versus XIII was difficult to describe when it was announced a decade ago.

　　It was presumed dead for most of the years since, but got a pretty massive promotion to a main title in the franchise and seems, touch wood, that it will be available by the end of the year.

　　Of course, it's not the same game it was. It's been ported to several different engines and has made the jump from PlayStation 3 to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Hell, there's even talks of a PC port... that wouldn't have happened in 2006.

　　In 2006 - shortly after the reveal - IGN reveal that development had been rocky on the title. That might have been an understatement in hindsight.

　　Final Fantasy Versus XIII appears to be trailing in development. "Absolutely nothing has been done on the actual scenario," director and character designer Tetsuya Nomura revealed to Gaimaga. "However, I've had the plot worked out for some time, so you could say I'm discussing the plot and concept with the staff. However, we've yet to start actual work on the scenario."

　　Final Fantasy XV will be available to pick up, hopefully, on September 30th worldwide.
