Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition Leaked by the ESRB
Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition Leaked by the ESRB-October 2024
Oct 21, 2024 11:18 AM

So, when are we going to get the inevitable Final Fantasy XV Game of the Year edition? Since launching in late 2016, Final Fantasy XV has released a variety of free updates, along with three paid DLC story expansions, and yet, there’s currently no way to buy the base game and all the add-ons in one handy package. Well, that may be about to change.

The ESRB website has just added a listing for Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition. The content descriptor is exactly the same as the one for the original Final Fantasy XV, indicating this is likely a GOTY-style compilation. What will Royal Edition include? We don’t know for sure, but all the first-year updates, and the Episode Gladiolus, Episode Prompto, and Episode Ignis story expansions are a pretty safe bet. Will Royal Edition also include access to the upcoming second season of DLC? Probably not, but who knows? Royal Edition sounds pretty swanky, so many Square Enix is going the extra mile.

Following a troubled, decade-long development cycle, Final Fantasy XV launched in 2016 to critical acclaim. Wccf’s Chris Wray thought it was a great game for new and old fans, alike:

“[Final Fantasy XV] should keep the older fans happy through the open world, the series staples: Biggs and Wedge, Chobobos, Cactuars, Cid and even more. At the same time, the story does manage a payoff that is befitting of the excellent characters and ultimately makes up for the slow start. Final Fantasy XV is a true return to form for the series. The main story of the game is passable, but surpassed by the fantastic tale of Noctis and his three friends, Gladiolus, Prompto and Ignis. The world they live in, the interconnectivity and just how alive it feels makes for a great game, warts and all.”

Final Fantasy XV is available Xbox One and PS4. No word yet on when the Royal Edition might launch, although expect it soon. Have you been holding out on the game? Will you finally give it a shot when Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition hits?
