Originally launched ten years ago, The Sandman was widely regarded as one of the most influential comic book series of all time, with its dark and intelligent stories. Three years ago the series came to a close, resulting in the death of its main character, Morpheus. And ever since, fans have implored writer, novelist, and creator Neil Gaiman to return to the world of The Sandman.

　　Quickly coming up on the comic's tenth anniversary, DC Comics is preparing to release an all-new hardcover graphic novel from Gaiman called The Sandman: The Dream Hunters. Taking place in ancient Japan long before Morpheus's death, the story revolves around a magical she-fox that is in love with a monk. The monk's life is threatened by a group of demons, so with help from Morpheus the she-fox must save her love.

　　Part of this new graphic novel's appeal is that Yoshitaka Amano, of Final Fantasy and Vampire Hunter D fame, painted all of the story's scenes. The 136-page book features full-page paintings and an eight-page gatefold from Amano. Fans of the legendary Japanese artist should surely check into this novel.

　　The Sandman: The Dream Hunters (suggested for mature readers) should arrive in comic book stores on October 27, carrying a suggested price of US$29.95.
