Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Event Scheduled On Final Fantasy VII 20th Anniversary
Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Event Scheduled On Final Fantasy VII 20th Anniversary-October 2024
Oct 22, 2024 5:30 AM

2017 is going to be a big year for the Final Fantasy series as it will celebrate its 30th anniversary. Square Enix representatives confirmed in the past few months that the publisher will be celebrating this occasion, and today we have learned when more about Square Enix's plans will be revealed.

Earlier today, Square Enix confirmed a Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Event, which will be called Opening Ceremony, which will be held in Japan on January 31st, the same day Final Fantasy VII celebrates its 20th anniversary in Japan, as the classic role-playing game released in the East on January 31st, 1997. Scheduling the event on this day is definitely not a coincidence, so there's a good chance more will be coming on the highly anticipated Final Fantasy VII remake, currently in development for PlayStation 4.

Earlier this month, a rumor circulating online stated that Square Enix is planning to celebrate its franchise 30th anniversary by releasing PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita collection including all entries of the series up to Final Fantasy IX. Other games, including Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy II and Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions, will apparently also release on Steam before the end of the year. Additionally, Final Fantasy XV and Final Fantasy VII Remake will be released on PC sometime during 2018. The rumor has yet to be confirmed, but there's a good chance we may learn something new about it next month thanks to the recently announced January 31st event.
