Digicube announced on Monday that 500,000 copies of Square's Final Fantasy IX for the Sony PlayStation have been pre-ordered in the four days since the start of its reservation campaign. The figure has already exceeded the previous record holder, Final Fantasy VIII, which took seven days to reach the same number of pre-orders. GameSpot News previously reported that consumers will receive a free Vivi doll upon reserving FFIX in Japanese convenience stores starting June 1.
Final Fantasy IX for the Sony PlayStation will hit stores in Japan this July 7.
