Feds approve EA purchase of Jamdat
Feds approve EA purchase of Jamdat -April 2024
Apr 12, 2025 12:41 AM

Electronic Arts' bid to establish a foothold in the mobile gaming marketplace is another step closer to completion. Mobile game developer Jamdat has announced that its sale to EA received antitrust approval from the Federal Trade Commission.

Made public last month, the acquisition called for EA to purchase Jamdat at the cost of $27 per share, or about $680 million. It would instantly make the publisher a major player in the rapidly expanding mobile gaming market, where most traditional gaming companies (THQ being a notable exception) have thus far failed to meet with much success.

While the FTC approval means one less obstacle for the acquisition to clear before being finalized, there are still a number of conditions that must be met, including the approval of Jamdat stockholders and foreign regulatory bodies. If those conditions are met, the merger is expected to become final by the end of March.
