Fear of the Walking Dead has been renewed for Season 8. The Walking Dead spin-off show's renewal comes ahead of the second half of Season 7's premiere in April next year.
As reported by Variety, Fear of the Walking Dead Season 8 will feature the show's former star Kim Dickens in a regular role. Dickens played the character of Madison Clark from Season 1 to Season 4, before seemingly dying at the end of that season. She will return to the series in the second half of Season 7, before becoming a recurring cast member in Season 8.
In a statement, Walking Dead chief content officer Scott Gimple said, "If there were a Mount Deadmore, Kim Dickens' face would be on it. Madison Clark is a foundational character to TWDU--heroic, complex, an everyperson who becomes a warrior and then a force of benevolence. Kim Dickens' raw talent, strength, and brilliance will electrify TWDU once more and we couldn't be luckier to have her back.”
While Fear of the Walking Dead is set to continue for at least another season, the main series is currently on its final stretch. The Walking Dead Season 11 premiered in August, with the first eight episodes running until October. The season will resume in February.
It's less certain when we'll get to see the long-in-development Walking Dead movies, focusing on Andrew Lincoln's character Rick Grimes. Earlier this year, franchise creator Robert Kirkman stated, "I don't know. It's definitely going to be before 2032. I wish there were more updates. I will say there's exciting stuff happening behind-the-scenes, and I am as frustrated as you guys are that we have not been able to reveal everything to you and talk about it non-stop."
